Planned features

Working Villagers is in an early beta, and there is a lot more to come. This page shows what is planned. Nothing here is in the game yet.

Plans, not promises

The order may change, and some ideas may turn out differently once they are tried in the game. Ideas and wishes are welcome in the issues.

Planned workers

These workers are planned next. Some of them get a new workstation, like the lumberjack and its chopping block.

MinecartMine logisticianHaulage winch (new block)Keeps long tunnels going with depot chests, later with rails, minecarts and a lift between the levels of a mine.
Crafting TableCrafterCrafter operatorCrafterFills a vanilla crafter from its chests and triggers it, without hopper sorting.
MapMerchantTrading office (new block)Takes goods to neighbouring villages by caravan and sells them where they are wanted.
Filled MapCartography TableCartographerCartography tableExplores the land around the village and finds other villages.

For the workers you already have

  • Work Contract A contract for every profession. Instead of one contract you craft, each profession gets its own: a lumberjack contract, a farmer contract, a pit digger contract, ... They cannot be crafted. You find them in chests of villages, mineshafts, pillager outposts and woodland mansions, and a villager hired with one only takes jobs of that profession.
  • Experience Bottle Experience levels. Workers rise from novice to master by working instead of trading, and get faster or carry more on the way.

Villages

  • Bell Buying a village. Workers belong to a village you own, and the village has a treasury that pays their wages.
  • Writable Book Village book. One book with every worker and what it is doing, the villagers of the village, its supplies and its treasury.
  • Clock Working without players nearby. A village you own keeps its workplaces loaded as long as the treasury covers the wages, so the work goes on while you are away.

Economy

  • Wheat Food and housing. Workers who get food and a bed from the village need less wage, so farmers and fishers have a use beyond selling.
  • Emerald Income for your village: taxes from the villagers and orders from neighbouring villages, each with a natural limit so the village does not print money.

Job books

Written Book Every profession gets a book that explains it in the game: the workstation, the setup and what its status messages mean. Villagers sell them now and then, so you can learn the mod without leaving the game.

Other mods

Spyglass Support for recipe viewers (JEI, EMI, REI) to show the woodcutter and carpenter's bench recipes, and for Jade to show what a worker is doing when you look at it.
